The Owl And The Pussy-cat Chat Over Coffee

By -

A sweet but unlikely friendship between an owl and a kitten, which takes place in a Japanese cafe, reminds us of the nonsense verse written by Edward Lear in 1871. It was written for the three year old daughter of a poet friend and has three longish verses – but the four lines below are what most of us remember:

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.

On the next page you’ll see this verse happening in real time in a very cute video!
