Nora the Piano Cat playing the CATcerto

By -

Nora the Piano Cat took the internet by storm a few years ago when she developed a love for playing the piano. Yes! Playing the piano.

When you watch these and other videos of Nora’s playing – which she does day after day – you can’t help but think she actually has a musical ear and actually realizes that the piano is an instrument that she can play and enjoy in her daily life.

This video is an amazing record of her playing as part of a performance of ”Catcerto”, orchestral music composed by well known and respected conductor Mindaugas Piecaitis in Lithuania.

In the video above, Piecaitis conducts the original performance by the Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra in the Klaipeda Concert Hall in Lithuania. After seeing a YouTube video of Nora playing, he really wanted to work with the music she was making. The idea of a composition to be played with Nora on screen and the orchestra playing live, was born.

Nora the Piano Cat – classical music sensation

Aaron Green, Classical Music expert, describes how Nora became such a star!

Who is Nora the Piano Cat?

Nora the Piano Cat became an internet sensation when her owners, Betsy Alexander and Burnell Yow decided to post a video of their cat playing the piano on YouTube for their niece and friends. Nora was adopted from an animal shelter in Cherry Hill, NJ, and took an immediate fascination with the piano in Betsy and Burnell’s home. She would climb on top of the piano and chase her reflection and sit underneath it while someone was playing.

Nora The Piano Cat: The Sequel – Better than the original!

In many ways, this next video is even better, as Nora plays much more directly with her accompanists. Brava Nora!
